Leapmotor C01

2026-09-24 05:10:00

The Leapmotor C01 is an executive-sized pure electric (EV) and range-extended (REEV) sedan launched by Leapmotor. As the brand's first model featuring "Cell-to-Chassis (CTC)" integrated battery technology, the C01 is positioned to take on the D/E-segment executive sedan market with its class-above dimensions and high-spec intelligent features, highlighting Leapmotor’s in-house vertical integration capabilities.

Model Overview

The Leapmotor C01 adopts a sleek, minimalist design that strikes a balance between aerodynamic efficiency and executive-level cabin luxury. It serves not only as a rolling showcase for Leapmotor's latest technological innovations, but also as a key product driving the brand's push into the premium segment.

Market Tags: Executive sedan, debut of CTC technology, four-door coupe styling, high-value tech cockpit.

Design & Dimensions: Measuring 5,050 mm in length, 1,902 mm in width, 1,509 mm in height, with a 2,930 mm wheelbase, the exterior adopts a fastback four-door coupe silhouette with a drag coefficient as low as 0.226 Cd. Inside, the cabin is anchored by a distinctive "T-stage" triple-screen setup powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, creating a futuristic digital cockpit atmosphere.

Product Highlights: Backed by full-stack in-house development, the C01 delivers cabin roominess and kit levels rivalling premium flagship limousines, all while maintaining competitive pricing through cost efficiency. This positions it as an exceptional value-for-money, class-defying executive EV/REEV sedan within the RM150,000 to RM200,000 price bracket.

Development History

Background: In 2022, the Leapmotor C01 was officially launched as the brand's second model in the "C" series. Its core mission was to expand the marque's presence in the passenger sedan market while reinforcing Leapmotor's "tech-first" brand identity through the first mass-production rollout of cutting-edge tech such as CTC.

Key Milestones:

2022–2023: The C01 BEV variant was rolled out, followed shortly by the REEV (range-extender) variant to address customer demand for long-distance cruising range.

2025: Across-the-board spec upgrades were introduced, with the digital cockpit upgraded to the Snapdragon 8295 platform and the ADAS suite fully calibrated for advanced perception hardware.

2026 Status: The C01 has firmly established itself as the backbone of the brand's sedan range. Following continuous model year updates, it has reached a high level of maturity in powertrain refinement, ride and handling quality, as well as conversational AI vehicle interactions.

Market Performance

Market Landscape: In the executive sedan segment, the C01 contends with established heavyweights such as the BYD Han and Zeekr 007. Its primary edge comes down to its 5-metre-long footprint providing executive-class rear legroom, alongside generous standard tech that punches well above its price tag.

Ownership Feedback: Owners have widely praised the C01 for its expansive interior space, handsome coupe styling, and smooth EV power delivery. While some have noted that the sloping roofline slightly compromises rear headroom and the frameless doors introduce noticeable wind noise at highway speeds, its compelling price-to-spec ratio and supple suspension setup continue to earn it strong approval as a daily family car and executive commuter.

Core Technologies

Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) Technology: Seamlessly integrates the battery pack directly into the vehicle's floor and chassis structure, shedding component count while improving structural rigidity and cabin packaging. This architecture not only enhances real-world driving efficiency, but also lowers the centre of gravity for more planted, confidence-inspiring handling.

Powertrain Options: Offered in pure electric (RWD single-motor / AWD dual-motor) and range-extended variants (1.5L range extender paired with an electric motor). The flagship AWD performance variant completes the 0–100 km/h sprint in the 3-second range, delivering effortless, linear acceleration.

Digital Cockpit: Driven by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, the system supports multi-display cross-linking and real-time 3D rendering with industry-leading UI responsiveness. It comes complete with a voice-activated AI assistant featuring multi-zone sound pickup and contextual scene customization.

Driver Assistance (ADAS): Equipped with advanced driver-assist systems featuring Navigation on Autopilot (NOA), automated valet parking, and active safety aids driven by a multi-sensor fusion suite, with driving algorithms continuously refined via over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

Future Roadmap

As of 2026, Leapmotor's strategic roadmap for the C01 focuses on the following key areas:

Deepening AI & Autonomous Driving: Rolling out end-to-end foundation AI models across the C01 range to enhance urban driving navigation and safety in complex traffic conditions.

Wider Reach & Global Expansion: Capitalising on scaled supply chain efficiencies to penetrate regional markets, whilst accelerating right-hand drive (RHD) and global market homologation to cater to growing international appetite for large, high-value sedans.

Technical Refinement: Upcoming facelifts will prioritise NVH improvements based on user feedback (including the expanded use of acoustic laminated glass), alongside next-generation battery thermal management systems to bolster charging speeds and range retention in extreme weather conditions.
